DR2 Canon Divergence Zine is a fanzine focusing primarly on Danganronpa 2 characters in different scenarios during the Killing School Trip.The zine will focus on contributors' ideas of different scenarios for life on Jabberwock and the Killing School Trip, whether that's different victims, Blackened, or an entirely new scenario!This will be a free, digital only fanzine, featuring artists, writers, and digital merchandise.Danganronpa 2 spoilers may be present in this zine, and content influenced by Danganronpa 2x2 content will be allowed.

What is a fanzine?A fanzine is a short magazine created by fans, usually focused on a particular topic or theme. This fanzine focuses on the Danganronpa 2 cast in different scenarios during their time on Jabberwock and the Killing School Trip.What is canon divergence?Canon Divergence is a story that maintains the setting of the original scenario while allowing divergence in canonical events. In this case, the fanzine will maintain the setting of Jabberwock Island and the Killing School Trip, while allowing for divergence in the events that happen. For example, a Blackened in DR2 might be a victim or a survivor in the zine. Stuff like that.What is Danganronpa 2?Danganronpa 2 is the second game in the Danganronpa series. You should have an understanding of DR2's story to be in this zine.Is this fanzine SFW?This fanzine will be SFW but will include canon-typical violence, cursing, or gore.What Danganronpa characters will be allowed in this zine?Since this zine focuses on canon divergence from DR2, all characters from DR2 will be allowed. Characters from THH, and UDG may be included, but cannot be the focus, while characters from DR0 and DR3 will be taken on a case-by-case basis based on their connection to the characters in DR2. For example, Chisa Yukizome might be allowed in a more prominent position where Juzo Sakakura would not.DRV3 characters will not be included in this zine, as they take place in a separate canonical timeline from the characters in the original trilogy.Will ships be allowed?Yes!Will this fanzine be digital or physical?This will be a free, digital only zine.How old should someone be to apply?You must be at least 18 or older on the date that contributor applications close: November 4th, 2025.What positions will be available? Rules
1. Contributors must be 18+ by the time contributor emails are sent on November 4th, 2025.2. All pieces must be original. AI and plagarism are not allowed. You are also not allowed to reuse an old piece in the zine.3. Treat everyone with respect and consideration.
Harassment of any kind is not allowed. Don't be rude about other people's opinions or pitches. Common courtesy, please.4. No NSFW content is allowed.
However, zine content may be comparable to content found in Danganronpa in terms of blood or gore.5. The main focus of your piece must be DR2 characters.
We may allow characters from THH, DR0, DR3, and UDG, depending on their interactions with the DR2 core cast, but V3 characters will not be allowed.6. A Discord account is required, as all major communication will be there.
You don't need to be super active, just pay attention to announcements, updates, and check-ins.7. Do not share any content from the zine outside of the server without permission.

Application Guidelines
GENERAL1. You must submit three samples of your best work. You must also submit a portfolio, so mods have a better idea of the scope of your work.2. One of your samples must include a Danganronpa character.
We would prefer this to be one of the characters from DR2, but we will not hold it against you if it is a character from the rest of the franchise.3. No NSFW.4. No unfinished pieces.
If a piece is used as your sample or in your portfolio, we will assume that it is complete as is.5. Your portfolio can be a link to a social media account, a website, or a Google Drive folder.6. If the links in your application don't work, you will be disqualified.7. If you have one of the mods blocked, you will be disqualified.8. If you use AI in your samples or portfolio, you will be disqualified.9. If accepted, you give permission for readers who download the zine to print a physical copy of your contribution.
PAGE/COVER ARTISTS1. Page and Cover Artists should have a good understanding of anatomy, color, and composition.2. Page and Cover Artists should be able to tell a whole story in one page.3. In addition to the General requirements, you should have one sample with a background and one sample with multiple characters interacting.
It will not count against you if you have one sample with all of the above.4. Your portfolio should include an additional 7-12 pieces of your best work.5. If you are interested in being a comic artist, you need to provide at least one comic example in your samples.
WRITERS1. Writers should have a strong grasp of spelling, grammar, and characterization.2. Writers should be able to tell a complete story within your preferred fic length (1-1.5k for Short Fic, 2-3k for Long Fic).3. In addition to the General requirements, you should include one sample within the word count for your preferred fic length.
Longer pieces may be included in your portfolio, but nothing longer than 3.5k.4. Your portfolio should include 4-5 additional pieces of your best work.5. Do not use an excerpt from a longer piece as one of your samples.
However, you may use an excerpt from a longer piece in your portfolio, provided that it can be read as is without any additional context.6. If you're interested in working on an alternate form of writing (such as a poem, article, or interview), we highly encourage you to include a similar piece in your samples or portfolio.
MERCH ARTISTS1. It is highly recommended that you include Merch Art in your samples, especially of Merch you're interested in making.2. It is highly recommended that you include samples in the art style you plan to use for your Merch Art.3. Merch Artists may be expected to create two pieces depending on the Merch types they want to make.4. Your portfolio should include 8-10 additional pieces of your best work.
